A Scoping Study Looking at the Research Gaps in Upstream Subsystems of Home Grown School Feeding Programmes in Africa

An IDRC Research Support Project

Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) programs have made a significant impact by reaching over 64.5 million children in more than 46 countries across Africa. While the benefits for children are well-documented, the effects on farmers, communities, and the environment remain underexplored.

This scoping study addresses these gaps and highlights the need for greater investment, coordination, and a unified understanding of HGSF approaches to drive sustainable change across the continent.
