Delivering impact since 2010
Wasafiri has worked on many of the world’s toughest social and environmental problems. We have been an impact partner for foundations, governments, NGOs, and companies, helping them act, learn, and lead on complex issues.
We’ve delivered over 100 assignments, across 6 continents, with a focus on East Africa.
Highlights include
On food & livelihoods
We curate the African Food Fellowship, a continental network of emerging leaders driving food system transformation. We led design and incubation of Generation Africa, the premier initiative supporting youth entrepreneurship in Africa’s agri-food sector. We coordinated SME representation globally for the UN Food Systems Summit. We are advancing home grown school feeding and poverty graduation in East Africa.
On climate & nature
We established the measurement, evaluation and learning for system change initiatives of the Centre for Nature and Climate at the World Economic Forum. We helped design and facilitate the Blue Climate Summit. We designed WWF’s Africa Food Future Initiative in two vital ecosystems.
On peace & inclusion
We led research, learning, and implementation to counter violent extremism with communities across five countries in East Africa. We established “Vijana Kazini” to bring young people together with government and businesses to create livelihood opportunities. We researched the drivers of youth migration in the Horn of Africa. Through participatory action, we mitigated conflict between pastoralist communities and extractive industry in Turkana.
