KENYA CONNECT LEAD FOR THE AFRICAN FOOD FELLOWSHIP

Ledama Masidza is a Marine Conservationist, Indigenous Food Systems Advocate, and Impact Storyteller. His journey began in Kuruwitu, Kenya, where he served as Environmental Programme Manager at Oceans Alive, co-developing community-driven environmental and fisheries co-management programmes. Passionate about sustainability and grassroots action, he has since worked globally to share success stories and amplify the voices of local communities through platforms such as CNN and the IUCN PANORAMA initiative.

Ledama serves as an ambassador for Ocean Culture Life, Sheba’s Hope Grows campaign, and IUCN PANORAMA. He also sits on the Oceans Alive Advisory Board and is a Managing Trustee at Wildlife Minds Trust. As Co-Founder of Moyo Moja Ltd, he supports community resilience through conservation and food security efforts in Northern Samburu and coastal Kenya, and across networks in Brazil, Fiji, Nigeria, and Canada. He also supports global biodiversity NGOs with capacity-building and fundraising strategy.

A CNN Academy and Global Changemaker alumnus, Ledama has received international recognition, including the Blue Champion Award and being named a World Economic Forum UpLink Top Innovator. He has spoken at major global forums including COP28, COP29, the UN Food Systems Summit, and the African Protected Area Congress, where he champions youth leadership, inclusive food systems, and community-led conservation.
