The Launch of The African Food Fellowship
BY HAMISH WILSON
Wasafiri are thrilled to have 30 inspiring and talented Kenyan Fellows embark on a systems leadership journey as they focus on transforming food systems in Kenya. They are the first cohort of many to come in Kenya and in other countries as the Fellowship supports food systems leadership across the continent in future.
The inaugural class of the African Food Systems Leadership Programme kicked off on Monday, May 17, 2021, with a virtual launch ceremony in Nairobi and Wageningen University & Research in The Netherlands.
It targets emerging leaders from the private, public, and civic sectors who will shape the ambitions, agendas and market dynamics that are needed to transform Africa’s food systems, and ensure availability and access to healthy and sustainable food for all. It seeks to strengthen African leadership that is creating the solutions to the most pressing challenges facing African food systems today, by focusing on leadership development, incubation, networking and collaboration
The Fellowship is an initiative of Wageningen University & Research and Wasafiri, with support from the IKEA Foundation.
