George Kaburu joins us from Kenya as our Head of Operations & People. George is a passionate professional who cares deeply about individual, institutional, and societal transformation. He strives to inspire others to continuously improve and thrive and impact in our work. For 15 years he has led and supported in the delivery of (research) projects across SSA to achieve responsible for both impact and client satisfaction.

Broadly his role is to lead and support the successful implementation of complex projects and building the capacity of cross-cultural staff teams across EA. Specifically, this includes; providing overall operation, risk and financial support to a portfolio of projects and ensure donor compliance with operational, risk and financial processes. In terms of corporate-level responsibilities, it involves guardianship of the East African office’s health, safety and security (HS&S) policies and procedures and ensures compliance with major donors and clients funding Wasafiri work.
