How to strengthen leadership to transform East Africa’s food system? Wasafiri in action at the AGRF
BY EUNICE KHAGULI
The African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) is the world’s premier forum for African agriculture. Each year, it brings together leaders from across the continent and beyond to galvanise action to tackle food insecurity, inclusive growth and climate change.
At this year’s gathering in Rwanda, it will be championing a transformation of the food system over the next decade. It’s an audacious challenge, but who will lead this charge? What new partnerships should be forged? How to shift the incentives? How to scale what works?
Today, the Wasafiri team will be in the heart of the action. Our objective: to gather insights into these tough questions from current and future leaders from across Africa’s food system. Our vision, in partnership with Wageningen University & Research and a leading global foundation, is to foster a continental-wide movement of transformational leaders capable of tipping the balance. The work will focus initially on Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda, and look to ripple beyond, as the movement grows.
It’s wildly ambitious, but its utterly necessary, and these are just the first steps of a long journey ahead. But we shall make the path as we walk together. Safari njema!
